Howard – Week 3 5X4 Photography

In this lesson we learned how to use a Sinar 5X4 camera to photography people in the style of Julia Margret Cameron photographs. We used 5X4 black and white paper to produce a negative like Fox Talbot.
The paper had an ISO of 6, so we needed a long exposure of about 5-8 seconds at aperture F8. The process to take the images is that we had to pull up the dark slide to take the photograph, then pull the shutter lever towards ourselves, set the shutter speed to the ‘T’ setting on the camera. Then press the shutter twice to take the photograph. Then we go to the darkroom and go through the process of developing it.
After we decided to do a reverse print using another sheet of paper and a contact frame. Then develop the picture.
